Student Leadership
Honouring student voice to build identity.
Our students are the leaders and thinkers of the future. We strive to ensure they graduate from our school with a kitbag of tools that enables them to be courageous in their decision making, face new adventures with courage, resilience and confidence, and embrace a strong sense of self and how they fit into the world around them.
Through our active leadership program and informal leadership opportunities, students are encouraged to build voice in learning and action, assume responsibilities, and work in partnership with the school community for the improvement of the school.
Year 6 Leadership Program
All students in Year 6 take on leadership tasks, as they are the role models to the rest of the school. Students prepare speeches for the various leadership positions, including school captains, house captains and Student Voice.
The students present speeches, using our THRIVE Agenda as a guide, to demonstrate their potential leadership capabilities to their peers and staff.
Student Voice
Student Voice at Our Saviour offers authentic opportunities for our learners to sit collaboratively alongside staff, leadership and community – because we believe that student voice is pivotal in the development and delivery of classroom learning and the emergence of school culture
Through this unique program, we aim to provide students with the power to influence change and support them in becoming genuine partners, both in their learning journey and the constant improvement of our school and community.
Buddy Program
To help foster social and supportive relationships across the school, our Buddy Program sees Year 6 students partnered with Foundation students to assist them in their learning and their school routine. Each week, both classes come together to learn with each other in the area of STEM.
These weekly sessions are planned and prepared with the intention of high engagement, strong relationship building, and for the ongoing development of social and emotional skills.
Our Saviour Primary is a ‘Be You School’
‘Be You’ is a national program for schools, aimed at promoting and safeguarding positive mental health in children and young people. It provides valuable resources, training and access to the latest research in mental health and wellbeing.
Proactive membership of this initiative supports our goal of providing a positive learning community that is inclusive and resilient, and where every child, young person, staff member, and family can achieve their best possible mental wellbeing.
