Learning Support
Unlocking the potential in every student.
Our Saviour’s Learning Support program assists students to realise their potential in a safe, encouraging and supportive environment.
Through early identification and intervention by teachers and our team of specialists, students with diverse needs are able to take advantage of individualised plans that focus on developing their academic and broader skills.
Depending on the unique requirements of each student, learning support can be provided in the classroom or in our purpose-designed support facility: The Zone.
The team works across all curriculum areas, with a particular focus on each student’s mental health and wellbeing.
Assistance can be provided one-on-one or in small groups, and to ensure flexibility and suitability, support can also be guided by formalised plans and specific programs, such as the Mini-Lit literacy intervention, or through informal guidance and goal-oriented approaches suggested by the teacher.
The Zone
The Zone is a major feature of our commitment to providing the best and most adaptive learning support possible. This carefully designed, multi-purpose room includes a host of features to help students focus, self-regulate, and find calm as well as inspiration.
A safe and welcoming space, it is set up to cater to the support needs of our students, and provides an appropriate environment for visiting speech therapists, occupational therapists and other specialists to run their programs, and also chat and share their valuable insights with our teaching staff.
The Zone is both dynamic and soothing – offering spaces to withdraw and re-centre when life becomes overwhelming, or release youthful exuberance in a positive, non-disruptive way.
Through this important asset of the school, and with the support of adult and peer mentors, our students learn to build necessary resilience, understanding, and positive relationships with others and themselves.
