Although school starts for most children at five years of age, we know that children begin their learning journey well before they arrive for their first day of school. Much of this learning takes place in everyday interactions between parents and their children, and we believe that supporting you in your parenting is part of our role as a school.
With this in mind, we have just started offering Bright Beginnings: Storytime to families in our local community. Storytime is led by one of Our Saviour’s specialist teaching staff and children aged 3-5 can enjoy a story together, prior to taking part in a fun and hands-on activity. An appreciation and understanding of literacy begins at an early age and we want to walk beside you as you explore new and exciting opportunities with your children.
We believe our Bright Beginnings: Storytime program is a perfect opportunity for us as a school to acknowledge and encourage parents for the wonderful learning investment they have made in their children in those early, important and precious years of life.
For those families with pre-school aged children, Our Saviour Lutheran Church, just ‘up the stairs’ from our school grounds, offers a weekly playgroup on Wednesday mornings.
This is an enjoyable, supportive and refreshing time for young parents who look forward to being able to relate to other Mums, Dads and carers who are also at a similar life stage. Volunteers help to ensure that this time is manageable for those parents with more than one child and there is plenty of equipment, resources and structured activities to ensure that children and parents enjoy and benefit from their time together.
